Jackie and Alishba Affordable housing

With the primary elections coming up, anyone who is eligible to vote, should. It is very important to be aware of the propositions being proposed. The current cost of living in California is immensely expensive. California is experiencing a severe shortage of affordable housing which may lead to serious consequences of life and death, having a direct negative impact on low incomes families, communities, and individuals. Proposition 1 would build affordable homes for veterans, low-income families, and people with disabilities. Californians are experiencing homelessness at an increasing rate due to the expensive rent rates. Proposition 1 would allow $4 billion in general obligation bonds, to be used toward affordable housing programs and leverage federal dollars for new housing to be built. I believe the people should Vote YES on Prop 1 because California is in desperate need of affordable housing for all. In today’s society, we need leaders that know about the public policy, have experience in the system, know how to think for themselves and know how to get things done. Richmond City council member Jovanka Beckles since 2010 and Richmond vice mayor since is 2016 is currently running for California State Assembly District 15 against Buffy Wicks. I believe Jovanka Beckles is an important candidate because she has work in Richmond, California for most of her life and will be a great candidate because she fought for issues that have benefited the people of the city. Beckles was born in Panama and immigrated to the United States when she was nine. She attended Florida A&M on a basketball scholarship and has lived in the Bay Area for thirty years.
